Human Factors
The Human Factors course examines how human capabilities, limitations, and behaviour influence safety and performance in aviation. Topics include perception, attention, memory, decision making, situational awareness, communication, teamwork, and leadership. Students explore the effects of fatigue, stress, workload, and organisational culture on pilots, cabin crew, air traffic controllers, and ground personnel. The course introduces Crew Resource Management, human error models, and strategies for preventing and managing operational errors. Through aviation case studies and practical exercises, students learn to recognise human performance risks, strengthen collaboration, and support safer, more effective operations across complex aviation environments and under challenging operational conditions worldwide.
